1. THIBODAUX: The Tigers have found their stride and are playing as well as they have all season. Beating East St. John was a huge win. The Wildcats are playing good ball in that Class 5A district. Now, the challenge will be for Thibodaux to try and beat Hahnville and Destrehan.

2. VANDEBILT: The Terriers could have easily taken the top spot this week, because they’re enjoying one hell of a start to the season. The most impressive thing about this team is its ability to both run and throw the ball to hurt opponents. They’re the favorites in the area’s Class 4A district.

3. CENTRAL LAFOURCHE: The Trojans have had the ball bounce their way a couple times so far this season, but on Friday night, things went the other way and the Trojans had a tough, hard-fought loss against H.L. Bourgeois. Central Lafourche had better be ready to roll on Friday, because Thibodaux is playing really good football.

4. ELLENDER: The Patriots got a huge comeback win against St. Martinville – a sign of exactly how far this team has come. Coach David McCormick ought to win the area’s Coach of the Year honors. What he and his staff have done to inspire the Patriots’ team is incredible.

5. H.L. BOURGEOIS: The Braves get into our top five after a huge comeback win over the Trojans on Friday night. Next up for the Braves is a non-district matchup with Westgate – a game the Braves absolutely have to win to reach the playoffs. That’s a big, big game.
