Amy Jernigan, 19, of 211 Maplewood Drive, Houma, is not old enough to legally drink alcohol.

But she was arrested on Wednesday and charged with first-offense DWI after allegedly driving while nine times above the legal limit for minors.

On Sept. 13 around 10:44 p.m., a Thibodaux Police Officer was pumping gas at a local station in the 100 block of East Bayou Road when a loud noise drew his attention toward the roadway.

The officer said he witnessed a 2011 Ford F-150 leave the roadway and drive over a curb onto the grass terrain of the gas station property, then traveling through the grass and onto another curb to enter the parking lot area.

The vehicle then went into a parking stall adjacent to the business and hit the curb, causing the vehicle to rock back and forth.

Authorities made contact with the driver, identified as Jernigan. There was also a passenger, who owned the vehicle.

Jernigan was showing potential signs of intoxication, so officers decided to have her perform a standard field sobriety test, which she performed poorly.

TPD placed Jernigan under arrest and took her to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center for booking.

She was released on a summons.

Authorities said she had a blood alcohol content (BAC) of .181g%, which is more than nine-times above the legal limit of .02g% for a person under 21.

For adults over 21, the legal limit is .08g%.

SCHRIEVER MAN ARRESTED FOR CONTRACTOR FRAUD

A 45-year-old Schriever man is in custody of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office after he allegedly was paid $45,000 for a job that he didn’t finish.

In April, deputies responded to an initial complaint from a Thibodaux resident who claimed he paid Lionel Winston Jr., 45, Schriever, for a job, but that the work was never completed.

LPSO said they were told that Winston started the job, but didn’t finish – his last work date on March 31, 2017.

Detectives said Winston was paid $45,000 from the victim while also learning that he didn’t have a state contractor’s license, nor had he applied for one.

Authorities also learned that Winston had not applied for any parish permits to complete the work.

Because he failed to possess a contractor’s license, authorities obtained an arrest warrant for Winston on a charge of residential contractor fraud.

On Friday, authorities located him at a traffic stop in Thibodaux, arresting him on the warrant.

He was booked into the Lafourche Parish Detention Center on a $55,000 bond. —

SUSPECT THREATENS TO FALSELY ACCUSE VICTIM OF RAPE, ENDS UP ARRESTED FOR MULTIPLE CHARGES

A 34-year-old woman is charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and unauthorized use of an access card after a strange incident on Sept. 1 in Thibodaux.

On Friday, September 1, a victim was invited via social media to the hotel room of Chrissy Luke, 34.

According to the Thibodaux Police Department, Luke was staying off the 200 block of North Canal Boulevard in Thibodaux.

The victim told authorities he met Luke at the hotel. Another man was allegedly present at the time and the three had a few drinks.

Sometime later, authorities said the victim was found by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office wandering around the Walmart parking lot in Houma. The victim, who deputies brought home, said he thought he had been drugged because the last thing he remembered was drinking at the hotel with Luke and the man the night before.

The victim said he was missing two phones, a laptop, his wallet and his vehicle – a 2007 Ford Explorer.

The victim tried to contact Luke on social media to get his things, but she allegedly told him that she’d accuse him of rape unless he bought her a vehicle and camper to leave town.

The victim then went back to the hotel and saw Luke driving up in his vehicle.

When Luke saw the victim, she left the scene.

Authorities investigated the case and learned that Luke tried to make a $596.81 purchase at a local sporting goods store with the victim’s card but was denied because it exceeded a daily card limit.

The victim also got contacted later because Luke allegedly tried to make a $1,000 purchase on Walmart.com, but was blocked.

Authorities looked for Luke throughout last week, finally locating her at her hotel room on Sept. 7.

She was arrested and taken to the Lafourche Parish Jail.

The victim’s vehicle and all of his belongs have been returned – except for the two cell phones.

Thibodaux Police said the investigation is still ongoing.
