C. LAFOURCHE-14

HLB-7

The Trojans answer last week’s loss with a big-time win over a very good H.L. Bourgeois team. The Trojans defense is aggressive and loves to blitz. That pressure was too much for the Braves to overcome in Friday night’s game. The only points H.L. Bourgeois scored in the game came on an interception that was returned for a touchdown.

DESTREHAN – 47

TERREBONNE-21

The Wildcats used a huge first half to put away Terrebonne, who has now lost three-straight. The Tigers got some confidence in the second half, scoring a couple late touchdowns with the outcome not in question. Terrebonne will look to battle back against Hahnville this week.

THIBODAUX – 45

EAST ST. JOHN – 32

East St. John led Thibodaux by nine points heading into the fourth quarter. But the Tigers stiffened and rallied to secure a two-touchdown win. Thibodaux’s rushing offense is really, really good – one of the best-kept secrets in Class 5A. The Tigers have now won three-straight to avenge an 0-2 start to the season.

ST. MARTINVILLE – 35

ELLENDER – 32

Ellender fought St. Martinville from start to finish, but couldn’t quite make enough plays to secure the victory. The Patriots drop to 1-4 in the defeat, but they remain a dangerous football team to face on any given Friday. Their athletes present dangerous matchups for opposing defenses.

PLAQUEMINE – 44

S. LAFOURCHE – 14

The Tarpons did a nice job bottling the Green Devils running offense out of the Wing-T, but special teams plays ultimately doom the Tarpons in a 30-point loss. Plaquemine ran both a punt and kickoff back for a touchdown in the win. They also blocked a punt to set up another score.

ST. AMANT – 48

S. TERREBONNE – 21

The Gators fought St. Amant deep into the second half, but couldn’t hold on late, falling to 0-5 on the season. South Terrebonne is young, but they’re steadily progressing. They’ll find victories in district play.

NEWMAN – 35

VANDEBILT – 7

The Terriers had a hard time containing the Greenies’ speed on Friday night, surrendering several late touchdowns to fall to 1-4 on the season. Newman is a good football team. They are one of the favorites in Class 2A. The Terriers will open district with South Terrebonne this week.

E.D. WHITE – 64

FRANKLIN – 14

The E.D. White football team takes full advantage of a matchup with lowly Franklin, scoring early and often to secure an easy, comfortable win. The Cardinals will face Thomas Jefferson on Saturday before the team’s big showdown in Week 7 with Patterson.

CATHOLIC-38

CCA-20

For the second-straight week, CCA s defense struggles as the Lions fall to another Class 1A foe. The Lions will begin district play on Friday against Ridgewood – a game that CCA will be heavily favored to win.

ASCENSION CHRISTIAN – 28

H. CHRISTIAN – 27

Houma Christian is coming along nicely. After a tough start to the year, the Warriors have improved in a big way. It wasn’t enough to beat Ascension Christian on Friday, but a close, tough loss to that team isn’t a bad result.

CCA has had a tough start to the 2015 season. The Lions enter the second half of the year needing several victories to reach the playoffs.
