SHOP shows appreciation for teachers with coffee, entree

Teachers can enjoy some extra credit this week at the IHOP restaurant at 1719 Martin Luther King Blvd. for Teachers’ Appreciation Week. Teachers can enjoy a free entree and a free Never Empty


Coffee Pot® all week long from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Students and parents can also show their appreciation for their favorite teacher by buying a gift voucher in the restaurant.

Student nominations for their favorite teachers will be displayed throughout the restaurant, said Kelsey Harrington, spokesperson for IHOP.


Counterfeit check charges in Terrebonne

Four men accused of running a counterfeit check ring allegedly bilked a local business out of at least $10,000, Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Jerry Larpenter said.

Checks accepted by the business, which was not identified, were returned by its bank, Larpenter said, and detectives began to investigate.


Scott Morris, 27, of 109 Hayden Reece Street and Coty Wyre, 27, 221 Robyn Street in Gray each face one count of monetary instrument abuse; Randy Rials, 35,245 Baja Trail, Thibodaux, two counts and Tracy Anderson, 42, 1295 Roberts St., Houma three counts.

All were booked at the Terrebonne Parish jail, Larpenter said.
