A $1,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of a suspect responsible for shooting a Thibodaux man last December.

On Christmas Eve, deputies responded to a caller who said shots were fired in the 100 block of Brocato Lane in Raceland.

A few minutes later, authorities got another call saying that a victim had just been taken to Ochsner St. Anne General Hospital with a gunshot wound to the head.

The victim was identified as Rashyad King, of Thibodaux. He was taken to University Hospital, and was later pronounced dead.

Through investigation, authorities said they learned that King was sitting in the passenger seat of a vehicle with two other friends when he was shot in the back of the head.

Detectives also discovered a bullet hole in the rear passenger side door of the vehicle.

Authorities said they have no description of the suspect(s), but they are aggressively seeking public help to bring the killer to justice.

Anyone with information is asked to call Bayou Region Crime Stoppers at 1-800-743-7433.
