Nicholls Art Department Hosted over 200 Students at Annual High School Day Event

Nicholls Department of Art hosted its annual High School Day in November, with 240 students from 16 high schools, as well as 6 homeschoolers, attending and taking part in 7 workshops taught by faculty members and Nicholls art students.

“Hear us out, hear our hearts, and vote to save our schools”– TPSB meeting met with strong opposition from local parents, teachers, and community members

At the recent Terrebonne Parish School Board meeting, dozens of local teachers, parents, and community members came out to voice their strong opposition to Superintendent Bubba Orgeron's plan to close three local elementary schools. The outpouring of sentiment was not enough, however, as the board ultimately voted to consolidate Gibson Elementary, Bayou Black Elementary, and Honduras Elementary with other local schools. During their regular board meeting tonight, the Terrebonne Parish School Board voted to consolidate Bayou Black Elementary School, Gibson Elementary School, and Honduras Elementary School, effective in the 2024-2025 school year.

Dept. of Transportation and Development Announces Bid Results for Statewide Projects

The Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) announced that 20 projects around the state received bids in November. One of the projects included is $18 million for Hwy. 90 in Terrebonne and Lafourche parishes.

CASA of Terrebonne welcomes four new advocate volunteers during the holiday season

"New volunteers, particularly during the holiday season, are extremely important," said Sulma Reyes, Advocate Supervisor for CASA of Terrebonne since 2011. "We have over 200 children on the waiting list, and so having new volunteers means that we know these children will be advocated for during the month of December."
