Nicholls Global Communication Institute Recipients Recognized for International Conservation Project

Nicholls Mass Communication Department has selected nine students to be part of the Nancy Sanderson Matherne Institute for Global Communication in its initial year. These candidates are participating in an international public relations campaign for the Cross River Gorilla Project  – a group focused on protecting Cross River gorillas in Cameroon.

Louisiana lawmakers gave final passage Thursday to sweeping changes in crime laws sought by Gov. Jeff Landry--including measures that will expand methods of execution to include electrocution and nitrogen hypoxia and shield records relating to the executions.

Legislators Adjourn Special Session on Crime

Legislators have adjourned the second extraordinary session of 2024, called by Governor Jeff Landry to focus on crime, six days before its schedule deadline. More than a dozen bills were approved by both chambers and now head to the Governor’s desk for signature.

Pedestrian Killed, Another Injured in Terrebonne Parish Crash

The preliminary investigation revealed a prior crash had occurred when an eastbound vehicle on US Hwy 90 struck a large object in the roadway that had fallen from a commercial vehicle. Following this crash, two pedestrians were standing in proximity to the disabled vehicle as an eastbound 2008 Honda Civic approached, struck and killed 37-year-old Benjamin Credeur of Rayne.

National organization raising money for animal shelters to visit Terrebonne Parish this March

Parking Rates at Louis Armstrong Airport to Increase Effective March 1

The first half hour in the Short Term Garage and Surface Lot will remain free, and the first half hour in the Long Term Garage and Economy Garage will remain at $4. Following that, for each additional half-hour, the rate will increase from the current rate of $2 each half-hour to $3.
