A 26-year-old Houma woman is in the custody of the city police department after she was found to be in possession of counterfeit money and drugs.

On July 24 at approximately 6 p.m., Houma Police Department officers were called to a residence in the 500 block of Grand Caillou Road in reference to a complaint of counterfeit money.

The complainant told authorities that she had been provided with a counterfeit $100 bill when she provided Mary Martin, 26, a ride in her vehicle.

Upon being given the $100 bill, the complainant gave the suspect $80 in return as change.

Authorities found Martin walking on Grand Caillou Road near Industrial Street, taking her into custody.

Upon further investigation, Martin admitted that she had provided the victim with counterfeit money in exchange for a ride.

Authorities also found her to be in possession of methamphetamine and a glass pipe used for smoking illegal narcotics.

Martin was then arrested for the charges of Monetary Instrument Abuse, Possession of Methamphetamine and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex without incident.
