The Thibodaux Police Department has arrested 30 as part of a narcotics operation it’s calling “Summer Heat”.

On July 31, Thibodaux Police with assistance from the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office, St. James Parish Sheriff’s Office, Assumption Parish Sheriff’s Office, Louisiana State Police, Louisiana Probation and Parole and the Houma Police conducted Operation: Summer Heat.
The sweet was put together by TPD after months of investigation. Its purpose was to assist in curbing violent criminal activity in the city of Thibodaux.
The Narcotics Division set out to target drug offenders (specifically distributors) in an attempt to secure successful prosecution of these suspects for their crimes.
TPD obtained 43 arrest warrants as a result of investigative operations conducted maily during the last 3-4 months.
Of the 43 wanted individuals, some have known or suspect ties with local hybrid-gangs reportedly responsible for some of the shootings that have occurred recently around city limits.
Nine fugitives were arrested during the past few days prior to the round-up, which left 34 fugitives outstanding.
During the round-up, 18 of the 34 fugitives were arrested and three other suspects were arrested the day-of.
In total, 30 suspects are now in custody as a result of the operation and 16 fugitives are still at large.
A total of 4 search warrants were obtained and executed during this operation. Additional narcotics, paraphernalia, money, firearms, and a vehicle were seized during the execution of the round up.
