This simple project helps encourage creative thinking and problem solving. By putting together simple engineering and drawing, even the youngest child can help create a robot that will dance and draw!

WHAT YOU YOU’LL NEED

Battery-Operated Electric Toothbrush
Pool Noodle
Scissors or Knife (adult use)
Tape (colored duct tape works great!)
Markers (thin markers work best)
White Paper
Optional Decorative Supplies:
Googly Eyes
Pipe cleaners
Pom Poms
Yarn

** We found all our supplies at a local dollar store!

WHAT TO DO

STEP 1
Insert the battery in your toothbrush and turn it on to make sure it works. Cut the pool noodle slightly larger than the length of the toothbrush. (Let an adult do the cutting, please!)
STEP 2
Push the toothbrush through the center of the pool noodle.
STEP 3
Use the optional supplies to decorate and design your pool noodle to give your art bot personality! You can use yarn or pipe cleaners for hair and arms, stickers, markers and more! Make your robot unique, just like you.
STEP 4
Tape 3 or 4 markers along the bottom of the pool noodle with the marker tips pointing down. Use the colored duct tape or paper strips to cover the markers.
STEP 5
Turn on the toothbrush and let the art bot go!

Tips:
• Play around for the best position of the markers on the
pool noodle. It takes some trial and error to get him moving on his new marker legs!
• Make sure the battery part of the toothbrush is situated close to the middle of your bot.
• Buy extra batteries!
