Good news, Lafourche: Digital TV is about to get better.

As part of a multimillion-dollar investment, Vision Communications is upgrading to an all-digital TV platform.

Once completed, customers will have instant access to more than 40 high-definition channels, according to Toby Dubois, Vision Communications’ chief marketing officer. The upgrade also allows Internet speeds up to 100 Mbps and more programming – including more than 100 HD channels and Video On Demand content.

“We are very excited to announce the start of our All Digital upgrade to our TV customers,” DuBois said. “As part of our ongoing ‘Bringing You a Better Vision’ campaign, this will allow us to reclaim the bandwidth needed to pave the way for more technological advances for our customers. Many of the TV and Internet technology options today require more and more bandwidth, so it’s important that we remain innovative in our approach and service offerings.”

The change requires customers’ TV sets to be equipped digitally – either with a digital adapter or converter box. Adapters are available at the company’s Larose service center, at 115 W. 10th Blvd.

“We urge our customers to pick up their adapters very soon so they can start enjoying the benefits of the upgrade,” DuBois said. “Installation is fast and easy, and customers will be given step-by-step instructions.”

Vision Communications’ upgrades extend beyond digital TV. DuBois said the company is also working to increase Internet speeds and capacity, provide more reliable power during weather-related outages, build fiber throughout Port Fourchon and improve its metro Ethernet network for businesses.
