Shirley Mae Abadie Gaspard, 76, a native of Westwego, La., and resident of Larose, La., died Wednesday, May 28, 2014.
Mrs. Gaspard enjoyed taking care of and spending time with her husband and family, helping others and serving God. She was a seamstress and an excellent cook. She was very creative, intelligent and a lover of music. Everything she touched with her hands prospered.
She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Dolton Gaspard Jr.; daughters, Marilyn Gaspard and Mardene (Paul) Blanchard; sons Michael Sr. (Lauren), Murry (Audrey), Murvin (Serena) and Marty (Christy) Gaspard; brother, Earl Abadie; sisters, Ruby Spurr and Louise Dufrene; 20 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Allen Sr. and Isebelle Abadie; brothers, Evert, Allen Jr., Louis and Forman Abadie; and one grandchild.
Visitation will be 9 to 10:30 a.m. Saturday May 31, at Samart-Mothe Funeral Home in Cut Off, La., with services to follow. Burial will be at Cheramie Cemetery. (Samart-Mothe)
