The Houma Police Department is looking for the suspects it believes are responsible for two, separate break-ins at Fakier’s Jewelry Store in the past few weeks.

On Feb. 21, HPD responded to the business, which is located on 8029 Main St., and noticed that the front glass doors of the establishment had been completely shattered.

During investigation, HPD said it discovered that the suspect(s) got into the store and smashed a jewelry case once inside, stealing a few watches that were not picked up on that particular night.

As HPD continued to investigate the crime, a similar incident happened at the same business on March 1 shortly before 4 a.m.

During that time, officers arrived again and noticed the front door of the business completely shattered again. This time nothing was reported missing, as no money or jewelry was left on the premises.

Houma Police Chief Todd Duplantis said he thinks the incidents are related because of evidence reported at both crime scenes. He said for one spot to be hit twice isn’t something that happens often.

“It is very rare for the same business to be burglarized within the same week,” Duplantis said. “This doesn’t happen often.”

Through investigation, HPD said it was able to attain surveillance footage of the suspects responsible. The footage shows two suspects clad in white hoodies and sweat pants. The men appear to be men and are wearing ballcaps in the footage.

HPD said that it asks anyone with information about the case to come forward so progress can be made to net an arrest.
