Frederick “Chick Baby Bro” Payne, 53, a native of Terrebonne Parish, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Saturday, March 5, 2011.


Mr. Payne was a Deacon and choir member of New Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church. He was a retired mechanic. His hobbies were singing and repairing cars.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Payne; sons, Charles and Juan (Nicole) Harrell; daughters, Chasity Harrell and Lashanda Williams; brothers, Trinidad (Sakeena), Michael (Sheryl) and Rev. John (Barbara) Payne, and Calvin Jr. (Brenda), Darrell (Rachel) and Willie (Michelle) Rockward; sisters, Barbara James, Louise Anderson, Mary (Rev. Larry) Blackman, Felecia Richard, Veronica (Marshall) Thibideaux, Monica Box, Cassandra (Maxamillian) O’Saban, Ruth Carmon and Ollie (Michael) Carter; and six grandchildren.


He was preceded in death by his parents, Rev. Doctor Richard Jr. and Emily Lee Washington Payne; two brothers, Silas Payne Sr. and Fredrick Anderson; and his grandparents, Richard Sr. and Dartsy Stovall Payne.

In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to his wife, Patricia Payne.
