Bayou Boeuf native Zamariah “ZZ” Loupe is still alive in his quest to be a WWE star.

ZZ avoided elimination during tonight’s episode of WWE Tough Enough, also avoiding the “Bottom 3” distinction that he had this past week when he staved off elimination only because of an online fan vote.

The first challenge of the show put ZZ in familiar conditions. The 12 WWE hopefuls had to swim through a swamp filled with alligators in a test of the competitors’ endurance. Unlike the opening episode when ZZ finished last in all of the physical challenges, the local was in the middle of the pack, touting that the “alligators and snakes are his family”.

Later in the episode, ZZ took a clean “bump” from the top rope, arguably his most impressive in-ring work in the two weeks of the show.

Away from the ring, the Thibodaux High School graduate seems to be living the life. After an argument among female cast members, ZZ was asked to move into the “girls’ room,” an offer that he accepted and regarded as “very good news,” while giving a smile.

With the successful week, Loupe is now one of 11 contestants remaining on the show. He is one of five men and six women who are competing for separate 1-year, $250,000 WWE contracts.

The show will reward with one man and one woman with a deal, which means that ZZ now has a 20 percent shot at taking home the title.
