Raymond Joseph Plaisance Sr., 89, a native of Cut Off, La., and resident of Houma, La., died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012.

Mr. Plaisance was honored as the last survivor of Pearl Harbor in Lafourche Parish, La. He was a member of the VFW, American Legion, Pearl Harbor Survivors and Knights of Columbus. He loved fishing, trawling, oystering, gardening and spending time with family and friends at his camp.


He is survived by his sons, Carl (Susie), Glenn (Sandra), Raymond Jr. (Nina), Robert (Michelle) and Charles Plaisance; daughters, Brenda (Henry Jr.) Punch and Stacy (Toby) Brady; brothers, Gillis, Simon and Norman Plaisance; sisters, Clotilda Callais, Ethel Smith and Rose Lee; 12 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ramona Plaisance; parents, Etienne and Theresa Plaisance; brothers, Etienne Jr., Eddie and Gabriel Plaisance; sisters, Mary Raney and Matilda Plaisance; and granddaughter, Lisa Plaisance.

Burial was at Our Lady of the Rosary Catholic Church Cemetery. (Samart-Mothe)
