Claude Welmon “Buck” Wiggins, 84, a native of Belle Alliance, La., and a resident of Donaldsonville, La., died Monday, Aug. 10.
He is survived by devoted friend, Doradine Knockum; one daughter, Angelia Thompson; one son, Claude W. Knockum; four grandsons, Jyruss and wife Tarwarnisha Thompson, Tasmin, Claude Jr. and Houston, all of Donaldsonville; three step-daughters, Rosa and husband Gyles Joseph of Donaldsonville, Lois and husband Charles Fuller of Baton Rouge, La., and Marydine and David Emery of Donaldsonville; one step-son, Joseph and wife Rhonda Knockum of Donaldsonville; six grandchildren; and one brother-in-law, Clifford LeBlanc of LaPlace, La.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Julius and Clara Wiggins; one brother, Wilbert Wiggins Sr.; two sisters, Isabella LeBlanc and Aledia Knockum; and two nieces, Shirley Banks and Whilamenia Peterson.
He was a retired employee of McDermott Shipyard and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Visitation will be 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 15, at First Israel Baptist Church in Belle Rose, La. with a religious service conducted by Rev. Irving Brown to follow. Burial will be at the church cemetery.
Williams & Southall Funeral Home in Napoleonville, La., is in charge of the arrangements.
