Louella “Lou” Rita Stringer Rogers, 86, a native of Chauvin, La., died Monday, Dec. 27, 2010.


Mrs. Rogers was the fifth of nine children. During her senior year of nursing school, she volunteered for the United States Army Cadet Corps in Longview, Texas. She was a member of the Louisiana Retired Teachers Association.

She is survived by her son, Marc (Lydia) Rogers; daughters, Jill (L. Philip III) Caillouet, Stephanie (C. Edwin) Fike and Sally (Donald) Todd Sobba; eight grandchildren, Christopher Rogers, Marc Rogers Jr., Matthew and Kevin Caillouet, Haley Fike, and Erin, Amanda and Spencer IV Todd; five great-grandchildren, Adrianne Rogers, and Nathan, Jacob, Lucas and Ethan Caillouet; brothers, Gervais, Hubert Jr. “Snow” and Steven Stringer; and numerous nieces and nephews.


She was preceded in death by her husband, Louis Dallas Rogers; parents, Hubert and Ernestine Elodie Babin Stringer; two brothers, Joseph and Willard “Pete” Stringer; three sisters, Lottie Gaston, Kate Price and Gloria Stringer; and one son-in-law, Spencer Todd III.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Terrebonne Parish Retired Teachers Association or Scholarship Fund, Care of Kenneth Royston, 1450 St. Charles Ave., Houma, LA 70360.
