Henry Joseph Chenier Sr., 80, a native of Vacherie, La., and a resident of Houma, La., died at 9 a.m. Thursday, May 29.
He is survived by his wife, Ethelyn Chenier; son, Henry Chenier Jr. and wife, Barbara; daughters, Diane Vito and companion, Dennis LeBeouf, and Suzanne Cummins and husband, Allan; sisters, Lois Chenier, Rose Duhe and Grace Kliebert and husband, Buhel; grandchildren, Chad Bridges and wife, Wendy, Duane Chenier and wife, Melissa, James Lirette Jr. and wife, Lindsay, Sheri Lirette, Jeffrey Chenier, Jeremy Chenier, Christie Pellegrin and husband, Beau, and Joey Chenier; and great-grandchildren, Troy Chenier, Amber Chenier, Chase Bridges, Keegan Pellegrin and Mackenzie Bridges.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Horstense Ockmand Chenier.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus No. 1317 and the American Legion and was a U.S. Navy and Marine veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Visitation will be 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. Friday, May 30, and 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, May 31, at Chauvin Funeral Home. Prayer service will be at noon Saturday at the funeral home chapel, with burial in St. Francis de Sales Cemetery No. 2.
Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
