Wilma Catherine Kiff Alpha, 94, a native of Morgan City, La., and resident of Bayou Vista, La., died at her residence Monday, April 5, 2010.

Mrs. Alpha was a charter member of the St. Bernadette Altar Society, a founding committee member of St. Bernadette Parish and a member of the Bayou Vista Rosary Group. She taught catechism at St. Bernadette, was a Eucharistic minister and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.


Mrs. Alpha was involved with the Girl Scouts of America and continued managing the Berwick Band Boosters’ concession stand for 17 years after her children left high school. She was also a Pink Lady at the former Fairview Hospital in Bayou Vista.

She is survived by her daughters, Wilma (Clint) Subra, Marcella “Musty” (Richard) Baudoin, Rose Marie (Billy) Guidroz, Theresa (Drew) deBeche-Thibodaux, Martha (Blaine) St. Romain and Denise (Dan) Smith; sister, Jeanne Picou; 18 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives.

She is buried at Morgan City Cemetery.
