George Allen Picou Jr., 64, a native of Pascagoula, Ms., and a resident of Schriever, La., died Saturday, March 15, at 10:05 a.m.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Dubose Picou of Schriever; daughters, Susan Brunet and husband, Andre Brunet, of Houma, La., and Elizabeth Butler and husband, Phillip Butler, of Sugarland, Tx.; his mother, Jeanne Kieff Picou of Morgan City, La.; brother, David “Doc” Picou; sisters, Catherine Bourdier, Nell LaMury and Diane Richardson; and grandchildren, Jordan and Lauren Butler, Jeremy, Craig, Emmeline and Abigail Brunet.
He was preceded in death by his father, George Allen Picou Sr.
He was a retired pharmacist and owner of People’s Drug Store. He was an Eagle Scout, a past member of the Board of Directors of American Bank and a past member of the Rotary Club. He was a recipient of the Louisiana Businessman of the Year Award, received the Harvey Peltier Award for the most-distinguished non-graduate of Nicholls State University and received the Corporate Mark of Honor for People’s Drug Store for Corporate Leadership to the Region.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to The George Picou Jr. A+ Scholarship, NSU Foundation A+ Fund, P.O. Box 2066 NSU, Thibodaux, La. 70301.
Visitation will be 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, at St. Francis de Sales Cathedral with the Liturgy of the Word to follow. He will be buried at Garden of Memories Cemetery.
Chauvin Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
