Chabert Medical Center earns ‘A’ safety grade from Leapfrog Group

Leonard J. Chabert Medical Center earned an “A” Hospital Safety Grade from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit upholding the standard of patient safety in hospitals and surgery centers. This national distinction recognizes St. Mary’s achievements in prioritizing patient safety by protecting patients from preventable harm and errors.

“The safety of our patients is our highest priority,” says Fernis LeBlanc, CEO of the Ochsner Bayou region. “Maintaining the highest grade from Leapfrog is testament to our team and its commitment to patient safety and quality of care,” she said.

Leapfrog assigns an “A,” “B,” “C,” “D” or “F” grade to general hospitals across the country based on more than 30 measures of errors, accidents, injuries and infections, as well as the systems hospitals use to prevent them.

The Leapfrog Group has a 10-year history of assigning letter grades to general hospitals throughout the United States based on a hospital’s ability to prevent medical errors and harm to patients. The grading system is peer-reviewed, fully transparent and free to the public. Hospital Safety Grade results are updated each fall and spring.
