Want to treat your little Princess to an amazing birthday celebration?

Club Emmy is probably the place for you.

Nestled into a corner of Southland Mall, the local business provides a unique birthday experience for local ladies – a full-fledged party that includes pampering, a fashion show, singing and dancing and much more to the kiddos in attendance.

“We have a lot of fun here,” said store owner Loretta Prestenbach. “This is a place where kids can come and really express their creative side – a place where they can show their personality and have fun. We really have a great time here, and from what we hear, the kids really enjoy it as well.”

A Club Emmy party is a fast-paced, fun-filled experience.

As soon as the young princesses arrive to the party, they are taken into the store’s back room where they will be equipped with costumes to celebrate the big day.

Because of regulations, the business is only equipped to host parties for girls.

But if little brother or other male friends want to take along, they are more than welcome.

While the young ladies ease into gowns and princess garbs, the little tikes get turned into pirates and buccaneers for the fun-filled day.

As soon as the children are adequately dressed, the young ladies are taken to an in-store salon where they are given a makeover – which includes hair, nails and makeup.

“The little kids just get so excited,” Prestenbach said. “You can just see their excitement level go way up. Most of them don’t ever really get to play with makeup too much, so when we start to give them the pampered treatment, it’s like the greatest thing in the world to them. You can just see them light up.”

After the pampering, it’s time to party.

Club Emmy makes sure that all of the conventional things are included in their birthday celebration.

Partygoers will get to enjoy cake, while also singing Happy Birthday to the birthday girl.

Prestenbach said she also organizes other special songs for the young lady celebrating her big day.

“We do some things to make her feel special,” Prestenbach said. “I just can’t give away all of our tricks.”

When bellies are full of sugar, a Club Emmy party allows the youngsters to burn off their energy in true glamour.

Club Emmy has a built-in runway along the back wall of the store.

With it, Prestenbach said the children have fashion shows where they can strut their stuff on the runway – just like the pros do.

All-in-all, the experience lasts a couple hours. But Prestenbach said it’s a memorable time for the kids.

“They have a blast,” she said. “This is a place where everyone comes and just has a great time – that’s why we do it.”

Prestenbach’s path to Club Emmy is sentimental.

Prestenbach said she and her friends would always have makeover parties as children during sleepovers and other gatherings.

That tradition is still alive today, as the store’s namesake, Prestenbach’s daughter Emmy does the same thing with her friends.

But it all came together during a difficult time for the business owner’s family.

Prestenbach said she had contemplated opening the business for a long time, but never had the motivation or drive to get off the fence and dive in head first.

But she said a few years ago her sister was diagnosed with a serious ailment – which later took her life.

“My sister got really, really sick, and when that happened, I was talking to her about it, and she said, ‘You know, you need to quit talking about this and just do it.’ She told me, ‘You never know what might happen tomorrow, just look at me.’ So that’s what I did. I used her as inspiration and I got everything together. And about a week before we opened, she passed away. But she got to see all of the work that was going into it, and I know she was proud.”

Anyone wanting information about how to book a party should call (985) 601-2480 for information.

If customers want to stop-in and look around, they are also welcome to do so.

In the front area of the store, Club Emmy also sells customized lotions, lip glosses and bath washes. They also offer purses, travel bags and other accessories.

In the future, Prestenbach said the store would consider making itself available to boy parties.

Either way, she said she believes her place is a can’t miss for anyone trying to treat their child to the full princess experience on their next birthday.

“I love to spark the inner creativity of children,” she said. “They have so much of it inside of them, but school is so structured. There’s only so much you can do to bring it out. Here, they let loose and have fun.”
