For a fifth consecutive year, Houma-based T. Baker Smith was named among the Top 500 Design Firms in the national construction publication Engineering News Record.
Judges for the Top 500 Design Firms span the United States and grades corporations according to design-specific revenue. Among the number this year, T. Baker Smith stands at number 270— a significant jump ahead of No. 467, where it was five years ago.
While most Louisiana firms that make the list have trended downward, TBS consistently advanced on the list for the last five years.
“T. Baker Smith is proud to be a part of this prestigious list over the years,” company president Kenneth Smith said. “There are approximately 140,000 firms in the nation. To be considered in the top 5 percent of firms is an honor.”

Smith said the family business is built upon engineering, planning, surveying, environmental, geophysical, marine positioning, construction management and much more.
TBS employs 270 associates, and the firm continues to grow with office locations in Baton Rouge, Lafayette, Thibodaux, Houma, Shreveport and Houston.
