Krewe of Hercules parade | February 2 from – 11:30 p.m. | Houma– Houma, Westside route.

Market at the Marina | February 3 from 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. | Terrebonne General parking garage– Despite the unfortunate weather, this month’s market will held in the Terrebonne General parking garage. Attendees can expect 40 farmer’s market vendors, including seasonal fruits and vegetables, bread, jams, jellies, tea, meat and seafood, baked goods, pet treats, kettle corn, eggrolls, body items, and more. Additionally, there will be food court vendors with various hot-cooked foods. Insulated bags, perfect for holding temperature-sensitive items, will be sold for $10. This month’s non-profit spotlight is Bayou Region Bikers Against Child Abuse. This month, Marina Sprouts, sponsored by Terrebonne General Pediatric Care, will have kids’ games and physical activities. St. Matthew’s Episcopal School STEM Lab will have engaging activities for kids to explore and experiment. Attendees can also enjoy a live performance by musician Daytton Turner.

Black History Genealogy Workshop | February 3 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. | Thibodaux Library– Genealogist Gaynell Brady will help residents learn about their family’s Black history genealogy. This program is in partnership with the Wetlands Acadian Cultural Center, Jean Lafitte National Historical Park and Preserve. The program is intended for adults and is free and open to the public. Registration is not required to attend. The Thibodaux Library is located at 705 W. Fifth Street.

French Lessons at the Distillery | February 3 from – 4 p.m. | Bayou Terrebonne Distillers– At the end of the six week course, you will be able to recite the alphabet along with words and phrases for each letter. The book we will be using is ABC Cajun Alphabet, Written and Illustrated by James Rice. In this week’s lesson you will follow “Gaston, the Green-Nosed Alligator as he leans the alphabet using Cajun word and phrases. Today we will cover letters A-E with phrases such as aigrette, bouré (and how to play the game), cochon, daim, and écoute (and a few Mardi Gras words too!)
