Lafourche Parish Sheriff Craig Webre announced that two people are charged with attempted murder in a shooting that occurred on Halloween afternoon in the Marydale community in Thibodaux.

At around 4:40 p.m. on Tuesday, deputies responded to a call after multiple calls of a shooting in the above-listed community.

Upon arrival, deputies discovered several spent bullet casings on Carol Street and they also found an abandoned gray sedan with bullet holes and shattered glass on Plymouth Street.

Authorities said a white sedan involved in the incident had arrived at Thibodaux Regional Medical Center with a gunshot victim.

Through investigation, detectives learned that a man and his sister were sitting in a gray sedan parked on the 400 block of Carol Street when Deondre Holmes, 23, and Jovonta Johnson, 24, both of Thibodaux, were traveling in a white sedan, which approached from the rear.

Authorities said shots were fired by occupants of both vehicles. One of the rounds hit the woman in the right thigh and one hit Johnson in the head.

Neither injury is considered life-threatening.

Authorities said the female victim drove the gray sedan to Plymouth Street and was then taken to the hospital. Authorities made contact with Holmes and Johnson at the hospital. After questioning, arrest warrants were issued for both.

Holmes and Johnson were arrested and booked in the Lafourche Parish Jail in Thibodaux.

Each is charged with attempted second-degree murder and bond is set at $150,000 for each.

Both are being held by Louisiana Probation and Parole.

The investigation is ongoing and LPSO said more charges may follow.
