Two Houma men are charged with murder for their alleged role in a shooting this morning that took the life of a 33-year-old.

This morning around 4 a.m., Houma Police responded to a report of a shooting that occurred in the area of Bryant Street.

Upon arrival, officers located a male identified as Kirk Robinson, 33, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he later died.

As the investigation continued, the Houma Police Department received information that the victim was on Bryant Street sitting in his vehicle talking to other individuals when occupants of a dark-colored Ford Fusion approached him.

As this took place, the subjects in the Fusion began firing at Robinson, striking him several times and narrowly striking the bystanders talking to him.

After that, the suspects departed the area.

During investigation, HPD developed information that Tyrel McKinley, 20, and Bobby Cooper, 17, were the occupants in the Fusion.

Later this morning, HPD located the vehicle in Senator Circle.

HPD also located both men in an apartment within Senator Circle and took them both into custody.

A search of the apartment revealed a semi-automatic pistol, which was recovered for evidence.

Further investigation revealed that the suspect’s vehicle was reported stolen from an apartment complex on the Eastside of Houma.

McKinley and Cooper were arrested and charged with second-degree murder, two counts of attempted second-degree murder and possession of a stolen vehicle.

Both were taken to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex to be booked and jailed to await bond or court.

McKinley was also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
