Two are in custody of the Houma Police Department after an alleged drug deal near the Sugar Bowl Motel.

Authorities were patrolling near the business at about 2 a.m. on Monday morning when they observed what looked like an illegal narcotics transaction taking place.

Officers then contacted both suspects, identifying them as Daniel Martinez, 39, and Cyril Short, 32.

Upon making contact with them, authorities found them both to be in possession of a small amount of methamphetamine, which led to both being taken into custody.

Both suspects are charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance II.

Short was also charged with possession of drug paraphernalia because he allegedly had a pipe in his possession that’s used for smoking crystal meth.

Both suspects were taken to the Terrebonne Parish Jail.
