A routine traffic stop in Thibodaux led Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies to a drug-related arrest.

On June 14 just before 8 p.m., LPSO deputies said they initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle on Cedar Street in Thibodaux.

Authorities identified the driver as Eddie Clark III, 20, of Thibodaux. Authorities also said they immediately detected the odor of marijuana coming from the inside of the vehicle.

Deputies searched and discovered the suspect was in possession of nearly five grams of marijuana and two pills that have been identified as oxycodone and amphetamine. Authorities said they also discovered more than 14 grams of a white powdery substance, which could not be identified.

Clark was placed under arrest. While cuffed, authorities said the suspect attempted to flee on foot, but was quickly apprehended again.

Clark was taken to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center. He’s charged with possession of marijuana, Amphetamine, Oxycodone and drug paraphernalia. He’s also charged with possession with intent to distribute a counterfeit controlled dangerous substance, simple escape and illegal window tint.

All the narcotics – including the white powder were sent to the Louisiana State Crime Lab for further analysis.
