Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Chauvin man during a disturbance complaint conducted by the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division. Devin Ronzell Odom, 27, was arrested on multiple felony charges in connection with the investigation.
On December 16th, shortly before 6:00pm, the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Patrol Division responded to a local residence in the 4900 block of Bayouside Drive, after reports of a disturbance surfaced at the residence. TPSO Deputies contacted family members who reported that Devin Rozell Odom began a disturbance at the residence over money, before exiting the residence with a weapon and firing a shot.
Deputies began to search the property and located Odom hiding near the residence. As Deputies attempted to make contact, Odom fled the area on foot and was apprehended a short time later. Deputies learned that Odom was in possession of at least two different types of illegal narcotics, as well as cash. Deputies later recovered a firearm in the same area where Odom was observed to be hiding, and quickly determined that the firearm serial number was removed. Authorities also determined that Odom was identified as a Convicted Felon in the State of Louisiana.
Devin Ronzell Odom was arrested on charges of Illegal Discharge of a Weapon, Flight from an Officer, Possession of a firearm by a Convicted Felon, Illegal carrying of a weapon in the presence of a CDS, Possession of a firearm with an obliterated serial number, Possession with the intent to distribute a CDS I, Possession of Marijuana, and Transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses. Odom was later booked and jailed at the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex, where he remains jailed on a $30,000 bond by local judges.
Sheriff Tim Soignet said, “Our Patrol Division did an incredible job investigating this incident. This incident could have ended much differently, if not for their quick response. I’m grateful for the job these very brave men and women do daily to protect this community.”
