Terrebonne Parish Sheriff Tim Soignet announced the arrest of a Houma man, in connection with a traffic stop investigation. Terry Paul Naquin Jr, 26, was arrested for traffic related offenses, along with multiple narcotics related charges, in connection with the incident.
On December 19th, shortly after 11:30 pm, a member of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol Division performed a traffic stop of a vehicle near the intersection of Bayou Sale and Grand Caillou Roads. Shortly before the stop, Deputies were conducting criminal patrols in the area of Cocodrie and Robinson Canal areas when a suspect vehicle was seen traveling at a high rate of speed. Deputies pursued the vehicle, which attempted to evade capture, before stopping for Authorities.
After the stop, Deputies came into contact with the driver, identified as Terry Paul Naquin Jr, who admitted to the traffic violation. During the stop, Deputies observed several suspicious factors which led to a search of the vehicle, and the recovery narcotics-based evidence. Naquin was also discovered to have concealed illegal narcotics within his mouth at the time of the stop, along with additional evidence recovered within the vehicle. Naquin was also determined to not have a valid driver’s license at the time of the stop.
Terry Paul Naquin Jr was taken into custody without incident, and he was later transported to the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex and booked on charges of Possession of a CDS II, Possession of drug paraphernalia, Reckless operation of a motor vehicle, Driver must be licensed, Obstruction of justice, and Flight from an officer. Naquin remains jailed on a $15,000 bond by local judges.
Sheriff Tim Soignet would like to commend the efforts of the Marine Division and Narcotics Division, who assisted in this case. Sheriff Soignet said, “This incident is another example of how proactive Law Enforcement tactics can have a positive impact in our community.
