The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office is seeking public help to find a Houma man who is wanted for stabbing a Thibodaux woman during an incident on Sept. 18.

Authorities say that an arrest warrant has been issued for Joseph Hawkins, 25, of Houma, for his alleged role in the incident, which injured the victim, but is not expected to be life-threatening. 

At 7:45 a.m. on Sept. 18, deputies said they were called to Carol Street in Thibodaux after getting word that the suspect had stabbed a woman, then fled.


Officers with the Thibodaux Police Department and also the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office also responded to the area to assist in looking for the suspect.

Investigating detectives learned that Hawkins had an argument with the woman at her residence and as he was getting ready to leave, he allegedly grabbed a knife, stabbing the victim in the abdomen before fleeing.

The woman was taken to University Medical Center in New Orleans and was released on Wednesday.


The warrant for Hawkins is for aggravated second-degree battery. 

His last known address is on Arlington Avenue in Houma.

Anyone with information regarding his whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers Bayou Region at 1-800-743-7433. Tipsters can remain anonymous and information which leads to an arrest may net a $1,000 cash reward.
