A 46-year-old Houma woman is charged after a domestic dispute, which allegedly ended with a shot being fired into the air.

On July 27, the Houma Police Department responded to a disturbance involving a firearm in the 7800 Block of West Main Street.

Upon arrival, officers discovered that Nicole Reding, 46, was in a verbal altercation with her boyfriend, which allegedly led to Reding pulling a firearm from her purse and pointing the weapon at the victim.

The suspect and the victim began to struggle, according to authorities and Reding allegedly fired a single shot in the air.

Responding officers said they had a brief struggle upon contact with Reding, but were eventually able to take her into custody.

She is charged with illegal use of a weapon, domestic abuse battery and resisting an officer.
