Some quick work and information sharing helped the Golden Meadow Police Department and Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office work together to arrest two suspects on forgery charges.

On March 21, deputies opened an investigation in reference to a report that someone was attempting to cash a check from an older account.

Through investigation, deputies discovered a man and a woman each attempted to cash the check at a Larose bank, but the bank didn’t allow it. Later that day, Golden Meadow Police Officers were called regarding a similar report at a Golden Meadow bank. When police arrived, they identified the suspects as Shonna Orgeron, 47 and Juris Roussell Jr., 38, both of Larose.

Using Zuercher Suite software, deputies watched the incident, discovering that the Golden Meadow incident and the Larose incident had similar characteristics. LPSO deputies then made contact with the Golden Meadow officers to get information.

Through cooperation, deputies and officers were able to connect Roussell and Orgeron to both incidents, which led them to be charged with two counts of attempted forgery.

The suspects were taken to the Lafourche Parish Detention Center where they are in custody.

Orgeron was also charged with possession of a legend drug without a prescription and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Both Webre and Golden Meadow Police Chief Reggie Pitre said the cooperation between the law enforcement groups made the case easier to solve.

They both also applauded Zuercher Suite software as helping to crack the case. The software is a data system used by LPSO, Golden Meadow Police, Lockport Police, Thibodaux Police and Port Fourchon Harbor Police, which allows law enforcement to share information.

“This is just a small example, but Lafourche Parish continues to be one of the only areas of the country where all law enforcement agencies freely share information through a consolidated system and it has aided countless investigations,” Webre said.

“Zuercher Suite is a priceless tool in law enforcement investigations,” Pitre added. “We have access to information collected by all agencies within the parish, instead of just ours, and it encourages collaboration and cooperation among our local jurisdictions.”
