A juvenile has been charged as an accessory in the shooting death of 53-year-old Kirby Courteaux Jr. last week.

The juvenile, a 16-year-old male, is the third person facing charges in the incident.

Terance Dupre, 22, of Montegut, was arrested and charged with 2nd-degree murder in the case.

Another man, Davonte Mathews, 21, of Montegut, is also wanted for murder, but is still at-large.

Through investigation, authorities learned that Dupre, Mathews and Courteaux were at a boat launch in Point-aux-Chenes on May 11 when Courteaux was allegedly shot several times.

The two suspects took the victim’s body and truck, hauling him to Morgan City into a wooded area.

Authorities have now learned that on that trip to St. Mary Parish, a 16-year-old male was traveling with them in the truck.

Dupre was questioned on May 15 and had been hospitalized since then on an unrelated matter. He was released on Thursday and placed into custody. He is held on a $1 million bail.

The juvenile is charged with accessory after the fact to second-degree murder. On Thursday, Terrebonne deputies made contact with him and took him into custody, sending him to Lafourche.

Investigators are still seeking Mathews.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call Crime Stoppers Bayou Region at 1-800-743-7433. Tipsters may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.

The investigation into this case is continuing.
