A 23-year-old Lockport man is in custody of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office after authorities allegedly found him in possession of narcotics and cash.

Narcotics agents were traveling in the area of Comeaux Drive in Lockport at around 5:20 p.m. on June 30 when they observed Brian Curole Jr., 23, of Lockport, driving on the street.

Knowing that Curole had an active warrant for his arrest, agents turned around to make contact with him.

Curole parked his vehicle in a driveway and ran inside a residence.

Before going inside, authorities said they saw Curole discard something in the backyard of the residence. Agents established a perimeter on the outside and after a few minutes, Curole surrendered without incident.

As Curole was taken into custody, agents noticed he had a large amount of cash in his possession and agents also searched the backyard and found more than 16 grams of marijuana and more than 80 doses of Xanax.

Curole allegedly admitted to agents that the narcotics were his.

Curole was booked in the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux on an outstanding contempt of court warrant, as well as new charges of possession with intent to distribute Xanax and marijuana, as well as obstruction of justice and resisting an officer.

Bond is set at $67,500.
