Thibodaux Police Chief Bryan Zeringue announced that a wanted murder suspect out of New Orleans has been located, arrested and found to be in possession of nearly two pounds of suspected heroin in a Thibodaux residence.
On Wednesday, April 12, 2023, the Thibodaux Police Department Criminal Investigation’s Division was assisting the U. S. Marshall’s Fugitive Task Force with locating a wanted subject identified as Alvin Clay (B/M-36YOA), whom they suspected to be at a residence in the 300 block of Bobby Street in Thibodaux. Mr. Clay was wanted in reference to an active Arrest Warrant for Second Degree Murder from the New Orleans Police Department.
After officers arrived at the residence, Mr. Clay was located and taken into custody without incident and transported to the Lafourche Parish Correctional Complex to be booked on his warrant. Following the arrest of Mr. Clay, Detectives obtained a search warrant for the aforementioned residence in an attempt to locate evidence related to the homicide.
During the initial search of the residence, detectives located what they believed to be illegal narcotics and paraphernalia. The Thibodaux Police Narcotics Division was contacted at which time additional search warrants were obtained which resulted in the recovery of approximately 30.7 gross ounces or approximately 870.3 gross grams of suspected heroin, drug packaging material, and U. S. currency.
In addition to his No Bond Murder Warrant, Mr. Clay was also charged with Possession with Intent to Distribute Heroin; Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and Illegal Use of a Controlled Dangerous Substance in the Presence of Persons Under 17 Years of Age.
Chief Zeringue would like to thank the New Orleans Police Department, Probation & Parole and the U.S. Marshal’s Fugitive Task Force for their collaboration in this apprehension and investigation.
