Thibodaux Chief of Police Bryan Zeringue announced that officers are investigating a crash involving a pedestrian and a vehicle.

This evening, Saturday, November 11, 2023 shortly before 6:00 p.m., Thibodaux Police Department Officers on patrol responded to a crash involving a pedestrian near the intersection of Canal Boulevard and School Street.

The pedestrian involved (Michael Mitchell B/M 62 YOA) was transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injures.

The initial investigation by officers appears that the male pedestrian utilizing a walker was attempting to cross Canal Boulevard, when he was struck by a vehicle traveling northbound on Canal Boulevard.

Impairment was not suspected on the driver of the motor vehicle and a standard breathalyzer confirmed. A toxicology on the deceased is pending by the Lafourche Parish Coroner’s Office. This crash remains under investigation.
