A Houma woman is in custody of the Houma Police Department after she allegedly wrote in her journal a detailed plan she planned to use to have someone kill her husband.

On May 11, HPD, along with the St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office conducted a joint investigation in reference to a complaint of solicitation for murder.

Detectives identified the suspect as Olivia Marie Rome, 39, of 200 Brinwood Drive, Houma.

Through investigation, detectives learned that Rome had written in great detail in her journal an attempt to hire someone to kill her husband, who at the time lived in St. Charles Parish.

From the journal, authorities were allegedly able to identify a witness and a suspect to the solicitation.

Authorities also learned that Rome had allegedly developed a plan and had actually approached a subject in an effort to hire him to carry out the plan to kill her husband.

Based on the information, authorities contacted Rome and took her into custody.

She is charged with one count of solicitation for murder and is held in the Terrebonne Parish Jail.
