A 27-year-old Thibodaux native is in custody of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office after he allegedly fired shots in the air over a custody dispute.

On March 5, at around 6:30 p.m., TPSO deputies responded to the 400 block of Rosemarie Lane in Thibodaux in reference to a disturbance with a gun.

Prior to the deputies arriving, TPSO had gotten calls that a suspect, Delvin Edmond, 27, of Thibodaux, had shot a gun into the air.

Upon arrival, deputies learned that Edmond and the mother of his child had a dispute over the custody of their child and he fired shots into the air.

No one was injured in the incident.

There were bullet casings and a handgun recovered at the scene.

Authorities took Edmond into custody as they continued their investigation. Authorities then interviewed witnesses who witnessed the entire incident.

Deputies arrested Edmond and charged him with illegal use of a firearm, aggravated assault with a firearm and illegal possession of firearm by a convicted felon.

He remains in the Terrebonne Parish Criminal Justice Complex on a $20,000 bond.

The case remains under investigation and more charges could be following.
