A 33-year-old Golden Meadow Man is in custody of the Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Office after he allegedly stole an ambulance.

At around 10:45 p.m. on Dec. 7, deputies were called to a report of a stolen ambulance from Lady of the Sea General Hospital in Cut Off.

Surrounding parishes were also notified and St. Charles Parish Sheriff’s Office deputies observed and stopped the ambulance on the road in their area.

The driver was identified as Rory Guidry, 33, of Golden Meadow.

He was taken into custody immediately. When questioned about the incident, Guidry allegedly admitted to stealing the ambulance and told deputies that he planned to travel to the airport in Kenner to “sneak onto a plane to Japan.”

Guidry was booked in the Lafourche Parish Detention Center in Thibodaux on charges of theft of a motor vehicle.

Bond is set at $50,000.
