Suspect wanted in Plant Road homicide investigation

On Sunday, January 24, 2021 at approximately 1:30am the Houma Police Department responded to a shooting in the 200 block of Plant Rd.  Upon arrival officers located a 26 year old male victim identified as Martin Jones suffering from multiple gunshots wounds. The victim was then transported via ambulance to a local medical facility where he died as a result of his injuries.

Through investigation the suspect was identified as Sherman Ruffin, 23 years of age, and a warrant was obtained for his arrest in reference to one count of second degree murder and one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

The investigation is in the infant stages and further details will be released at a later date and time.

Tipsters could be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 in cash if the information leads to an arrest.
