On todays date May 2nd, 2023 the Houma Police Department would like to announce the arrest of a second suspect in this investigation.
After further investigation our investigators linked a third suspect to the homicide and a warrant was obtained for second degree murder. The suspect was found to be 16 years old and due to his age the identity can not be released. The Houma Police Department then reached out to the family of the suspect, attempting to have him turn himself into the Houma Police Department. With assistance of our community partner Jerome Boykin of the NAACP we were able to successfully negotiate his surrender as he was taken into custody without incident.
As of this date Anox Smith 18 years old is still at large but are hopeful that he will also turn himself in to the Houma Police Department.
It is always the goal of our agency to resolve situations such as this in a safe and peaceful manner and we would like to thank Mr. Boykin for assisting us with achieving this goal.
