A 40-year-old Houma man was arrested last week after multiple local organizations joined together to raid a local drug operation.

On May 30, 2019, agents of the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Narcotics Division, in cooperation with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, executed warrants relating to a federal-state investigation.

During the raid, authorities seized quantities of illegal drugs, as well as weapons and $200,000 cash. Authorities also arrested Morgan Burl III, 40, of Houma, who now faces felony charges in federal court.

The U.S. Attorney for the Eastern Division of Louisiana will handle Burl’s case.

“Agents gained entry to a home on the 900 block of Roussell Street,” TPSO Chief Criminal Deputy Col. Terry Daigre said. “The occupant, who was there with his minor child in the house’s master bedroom offered no resistance.”

During the raid, authorities located 8.2 pounds of marijuana, 1.4 pounds of heroin, 104 grams of crack cocaine, 38 grams of methamphetamine and 48.6 grams of powdered cocaine.

Authorities also found three 9 mm pistols, a .38 revolver and a .25 revolver, as well as two semi-automatic rifles and two shotguns.

Authorities also located $200,000 cash on the scene.

TPSO said the Houma Police Department and Louisiana State Police also assisted with the operation.
