The Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office has made multiple drug-related arrests this past week, while also taking into custody a wanted suspect.


On June 22, TPSO uniform patrol deputies and K-9 deputies were called to 143 Johnson Ridge Lane in Thibodaux in reference to a wanted suspect who was allegedly at that location.

The suspect authorities were looking for was Terrance Southall. He had outstanding warrants for failure to appear, aggravated battery with a dangerous weapon, possession with the intent to distribute cocaine, possession with the intent to distribute marijuana, possession with the intent to distribute Hydrocodone, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and entering contraband into a penal facility.

Upon approaching the residence, authorities said they detected a strong odor of marijuana emitting from inside the residence. At that time, deputies called Terrebonne’s Narcotics Task Force and they immediately responded.


Deputies initially made contact with the home owner, John Gage, 35, of Thibodaux.

Deputies questioned him about Southall being inside his residence and he denied that the suspect was there.

Lawrence James, 31, of Thibodaux, and three minor children were inside the residence, as well.


After further investigation, authorities obtained a search warrant for the residence and in the search, the following items were recovered.

• A digital scale

• 1.20 grams of marijuana


• 1.05 pounds of crystal meth, individually packaged for distribution (street value $97,680)

In the search, authorities also found Southall hiding in one of the bedrooms of the residence.

All three suspects were arrested. The three children – ages 4, 9 and 15 were releases to a responsible relative.


The charges given were as follows:

Gage is charged with transactions involving proceeds, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with the intent to distribute crystal meth and three counts of illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a person under 17.

Bond is set at $150,000.


James is charged with transactions involving drug proceeds, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with the intent to distribute crystal meth and three counts of illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a person under 17.

Bond is set at $150,000.

Southall is charged with transactions involving drug proceeds, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with the intent to distribute crystal meth, three counts of illegal use of a controlled dangerous substance in the presence of a person under 17 and three arrest warrants for failure to appear in court.


Bond is set at $225,000.
