From TPSO:

Terrebonne Parish Sheriff, Tim Soignet, said that a traffic stop led to a narcotics arrest.

On Friday evening 12-11-2020, a Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office Deputy conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle in Houma, Louisiana for failing to stop at a stop sign. During the traffic stop, contact was made with the driver of the vehicle, Ferdinand Mathieu (a 38-year-old resident of Terrebonne Parish). While interacting with Mathieu during the traffic stop, the Deputy noticed that Mathieu showed signs of nervous behavior. A narcotics detection K-9 was called to the scene to assist. This resulted in a search of Mathieu’s vehicle. During the search Heroin was located inside of this vehicle. A TPSO Narcotics Agent was called to the scene to assist with the investigation, and the vehicle was towed.

Mathieu was arrested for the traffic violation and for possession with intent to distribute heroin. On December 12, 2020, a secondary search on the vehicle was conducted. During that search, Narcotics Agents located additional heroin that was concealed under the hood of the vehicle. This investigation is on-going.

Sheriff Soignet said that he is proud of the proactive work from the Uniform Patrol. Division, and the way all the criminal divisions of the Sheriff’s Office work together. “This is the type of results that occur when the office works together”.
