Last March, 6-year-old Madison Boudreaux was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, an aggressive form of bone cancer, in her left arm.

The tumor was removed and a metal rod was put in its place. For the next 12 years, Madison must undergo several surgeries to extend this rod and even though she is now declared N.E.D. (no evidence of disease), she must receive a range of tests and full body scans every three months.

A “Dance For A Cure” Benefit (benefiting Madison Boudreaux) is set for Saturday, Aug. 21, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Bayouland YMCA, 103 Valhi Blvd. in Houma. The event is hosted by Family & Friends of Madison Boudreaux.

Some dances to be featured are the Zumba Fitness by Linda Marcel and Donna Redmond, Hip Hop by Pascal Lardy, Belly Dancing by Jessica Martin, Hula Hoop by Heather Palm and Line Dancing by Susan Waalk.

Other features include door prizes, a silent auction, half-and-half raffle and bake sale. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

At the door entry fees are $25 for adults and $10 for children ages 5 to 12. Pre-registration fees are $20 for adults and $10 for children and you have to pre-register by Saturday, Aug. 14.

Anyone interested in pre-registering or donating supplies, money, prizes, food, drink or time can contact Linda Marcel at (985) 852-9818 or email her at linmar01@comcast.net.
