Young artists have a chance to sharpen their pencils as well as their skills at the Terrebonne Fine Arts Guild Children’s Summer Art Camp.

Lessons in acrylics, drawing, pastels, watercolor and clay sculpture will be taught over a five-week period June 21 through July 23.

“As long as we have room, we’ll take reservations,” said Gallery Director Aleta Leckelt.

A fee of $25 per week will cover the cost of classes and supplies. Winners from the Guild’s School Art Show can attend the weeklong classes for free thanks to a grant from the Gray Foundation.

Sessions for children in grades two through five will be 10 a.m. to noon, and grades six through 12 will meet 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Registration and classes are held at the gallery, located at 630 Belanger St. behind the Scarlet Scoop.

“To register, parents need to come to the gallery Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.,” Leckelt said.

The Children’s Summer Camp is sponsored in part by a grant from the Louisiana Division of the Arts, Office of Cultural Development.
