The first Louisiana Coastal Wildlife Artists & Carvers Exposition is set for Saturday, April 17, and Sunday, April 18, in Houma’s Downtown District.

The expo features nature-inspired carvings – including carved bird decoys, sculptures, flat art and Native American art & crafts. About 30 artists are expected to show their work.

Presented by the Louisiana Wildlife Artists & Carvers Guild (LWACG), the primary purpose of the event is to give wildlife artist the opportunity to display and sell their work, said Jerome Dupré, president of LWACG.

“There is not much of a venue for people, who do this type of art, to sell their paintings and carvings here in Louisiana,” he explained.

The hours for the expo are 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday, with a live auction at 1 p.m., and, on Sunday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $6 for adults, $4 for students and $3 for children ages 6 to 12.

Discount admission coupons and information on display tables are available at www.lwacg.com.
