Thinking of Halloween, think costumes. And what better place for adults to dress up than at South Louisiana Center for the Arts’ 3rd annual Bal Masque?

Set for Oct. 24, the fundraiser will be held at Glenny Lee Buquet’s home beginning at 7:30 p.m.

“It’s very valuable to have social interaction for adults,” SoLa director Elizabeth Anna Roberts said. “They work all day and, sometimes, they just need a moment to mingle. Our SoLa instructors are providing the live music for the event, so it should be fun for all.”

This year’s theme is “A Black and White Affair.”

Bal Masque is the non-profit arts organization’s main fundraiser. Roberts said monies generated by the event pay staff salaries, various fees and SoLa’s daily operations. It also helps fund the Halloween Parade in Houma.

With the monies raised and matching community outreach grants, SoLa is able to provide scholarships to children enrolled in its many cultural awareness programs.

The cost of the Bal Masque is $60 per person or $100 per couple. There will be a cash bar, and local restaurants will provide food. Silent auction items will also be available for guests to bid on.

Tickets can be purchased from SoLa at 7839 W. Park Ave. in Houma or, online, at www.solacenter.org, or by calling (985) 876-2222.
