Thinking of investing in a boat or an RV? Or, have you ever wanted to try out fishing lures to see which is the best but just couldn’t make it to the lake?

Well, now is the chance to do all of those things in one spot.

The 11th annual Southern Louisiana Boat, Sport and RV Show returns to the Houma-Terrebonne Civic Center Jan. 16-18 bringing virtually everything to fulfill an outdoorsman’s dream.

“We have over 40 different brands of boats in one location,” said Bart Caple of BAC Shows. “People can come to the show to shop and compare everything in one convenient location. That’s a real benefit. We have over 70 brands of RVs. We have everything for camping and boating enthusiasts. It’s a nice place where people can go and have fun to see all kinds of neat stuff.”

This year’s event will have even more attractions.

Attendees can also get a glimpse of the world’s largest mobile aquarium. The 42-foot, 5,000-gallon bass tub with see-through glass walls allows fishermen to see how different lures work on fish.

“People can actually see how the fish respond to that,” Caple said. “Fishermen always like that.”

For youngsters, there will be a Fish-o-Rama set up. The indoor pond is stocked with rainbow trout from northern Alabama and allows children to fish with their parents. Since it is too hot for rainbow trout in south Louisiana, the experience will likely be the first time the younger set and parents have caught a rainbow trout.

There is also a Whitetail Extravaganza, featuring mounts of some of the largest Canadian whitetail deer and a helicopter for viewing, compliments of Johnston’s Flying Service in Houma.

Doors open from 3 to 9 p.m. on Friday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Saturday and 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday. Admission is $6 for adults and $2 for children ages 6 to15 on Saturday and Sunday. Children under the age of six get in free. On Friday only, children 12 years old and younger get in free and get to fish once for free at the Fish-o-Rama pond.
